East Berkshire Golf Club Dress Code

East Berkshire Golf Club is a prestigious member’s golf club which aims to balance our long history and traditions, with being a progressive club where members, guests and visitors can feel comfortable and welcome.

Therefore, we provide the following guidance for all:

On the Course (which includes short game area, practice range and putting green)

  • Clean, smart, recognised golfing apparel must be worn on the Course. Items which can be purchased from a professional golf retail outlet are deemed acceptable.
  • Men’s shirts must be tucked into waistbands.
  • Golf shorts should be tailored and sports socks predominantly of one colour and in keeping with your golf apparel are acceptable.
  • Caps are to be worn with the peak facing forward.

In the Clubhouse

  • Smart casual dress is expected within the Clubhouse.
  • Smart denim jeans, but not ripped jeans, are permitted in the Clubhouse.
  • Caps, visors, and hats must not be worn in the Clubhouse.
  • Wet outerwear and wet footwear must not be brought into the bar area.
  • Smart, clean, dry sports shoes and modern pimple-soled golf shoes are acceptable,  but wearers should take care, especially in wet weather, in order to prevent grass and debris being brought into the Clubhouse.
  • Golf shoes with metal or soft spikes are not permitted in any area of the Clubhouse except in the locker rooms.

Golfers should preferably change their footwear in the locker rooms and not in the car park.

In line with the EBGC Safeguarding policy we request that any concerns about dress code be brought to the attention of a member of EBGC staff who will take appropriate action.  Please do not approach other members, guests or visitors in relation to dress code issues.  Any decision taken by EBGC staff will be final.
